Yes.Basically, in this blog I’m not only going to explain you about this job and about the potential of this job etc. But also I will also tell you how you can earn money.

I would like to tell you that this job is of subtitle writing. Now I’ll talk about what are the subtitles. See if go into its definition you’ll get confused But let me explain you in simple words with examples. For example, you must be watching blog of Ankur warikoo or Be YouNick. You must have noticed they make content in Hindi.
Ok.. And whenever they are making content, whatever they are speaking, it’s translation in English is shown below And even if you are watching this blog you can see its translations are shown below in English And that is called subtitles.
Okay. So, now we are going to talk about the uses of subtitles. See most of the content creators, here I’m saying content creators not only of Youtube but of Instagram and Facebook too and of many other platforms, all their creators use subtitles. Okay. Like many of them who create content in Hindi they add subtitles in English.
Okay. And many people who create content in English they add subtitles in English. Now, you must be thinking what is its benefit? What is its importance? So, I would like to tell you that it’s very important to use subtitles, there are so many reasons.
I’m going to mention some of the reasons why is it important. The first reason is that you get more engagement. If you use subtitles, you’ll get more engagement. Second thing you get reach. Now why do you get reach? I’ll explain you.
So, let’s suppose that you are making content in Hindi . but most people don’t talk in English, there’s a good percentage of it. They speak Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, right. Now if you see as a Hindi content creator, you can reach only till 43% of the population of India.
But if you are willing to get more reach then what you’ll have to do is, you’ll have to use subtitles. Let's say if you use english subtitles, then the audience from south, who speak Tamil, Telugu, they understand English, will also watch your content. and you will gain more and more subscribers. So this was our 1st reason.
Secondly, most of the time the content creators, whatever he is speaking is not understandable and if subtitles are included we can read and understand them. Now this was all about it’s importance. Now most of the people will say that it’s okay, there is importance obviously but are people in India using it? Talking about today’s time, most of the Indian creators and foreign creators too are utilizing them. For example, if I talk about Indian creators then there is Carry Minati, BB ki Vines, all these people are adding English subtitles.
Also if you watch Mr. beast, firstly let me know in the comment section how many of you watch Mr. beast. All these people are using English subtitles because they want more and more reach. They have understood that India is very big, it is not a small country. So here we talked about the importance, what is it’s use, what subtitles are.
Now, we are going to talk about it’s earning potential. And for explaining the earning potential I would like to invite Mr. Abhay Pawar who is around 19 years old and does subtitle writing and also, he writes subtitles for our blog too. Okay. So today we are going to discuss about subtitles and I had already started the work of subtitle writing since 2-3 months. And around that I have also started an agency too where we provide other services also.
So brother, now tell us what is the earning potential of this particular subtitles writing job? If we talk about earning potential, if you have Indian clients you can start with 70-80 rupees per minute and gradually you can increase up to 150rs per minute too.
And if you are managing foreign, you can charge up to 150-200rs per minute of the blog, So, lets suppose if someone is investing 8-10 hours a day in it then? maximum how much will he be able to earn in a day? You can earn 3000rs per day. Okay. With Indian clients only?
Yes, you can manage Indian clients also but you need to give that much time You’ll have to invest 10-11 hours a day continuously for it, then only you can earn that much. Hard-work is required obviously. Yes. Hard-work is required obviously.
So brother most of the people must be thinking how subtitles are written. So if you can describe how it’s done and what kind of different tools you use? For writing this, many free tools are available For example you can do this work in YouTube studio. And there is kapwing, there is veed.io, so here you can use these tools and create subtitles.
If you need English subtitles in English blog then it is easy that only transcription is required that first understand whatever they are speaking in English then type it out in English on your computer or mobile. And also I have noticed one thing that there are many AI tools available. If you are speaking in English Yes.
And through that English, you can easily get subtitles. Yes. So that’s why the problem is arising in English so it’s difficult to get foreign clients. Because for English blog, making English subtitles have become easy for AI tools.
And I think I have seen YouTube also provides auto generation automatically for them. Auto-generated captions are provided. But there are some mistakes left. That’s why some AI tools outside, means outside
YouTube are much better they are having 99% accuracy. This means whoever asks me for subtitles writing so I advise them to start with Indian clients. Because Indian clients require this most because they create blog in Hindi, And they require English subtitles.
For example for south Indian people they face the problem in Hindi so it becomes easy for them to watch blog through English subtitles.
So brother now we are going to discuss how we can write subtitles? If you are willing to describe. Okay. Firstly, I would like to tell you how I do it, means total process. So firstly whoever the clients are, they have blog we have to translate that blog in the form of text.
For example, if there is a Hindi blog then we have to understand it’s each and every line and translate it. And then we have to write it means you can note it down in notepad too or you can write using Google docs.
Okay.Then afterwards you will have to do it’s time sync. This means, suppose creator who is saying something from 0-2 sec in Hindi what does it mean in English, so you have to do it’s time sync there. So, you can get many tutorials on YouTube.
And that’s the not major issue for learning. You can learn in 1-1/2 hours. So, basically, you also learned from YouTube that how to create subtitles? Yes. I have learned everything in free from YouTube. Okay. So brother, like you said now that uh..
When we want to write subtitles we do translation and all. Yes. So do you do that yourself after watching blog or do you use google translator or something? What we use in Google is made based on AI means it’s based on machine learning models too.
So many mistakes keep happening. So lot of mistakes happens, that might have done manual translation then it would be better. Rather than automatic translation. But But if you have problem in any word then you can type.
Yes. For example, if you are not getting any word that how do we say it in English, then you can use Google translator. But you have to type it by yourself. Means you can do it by voice too. You can type from voice too.
But you’ll have to understand that in Hindi by yourself and type it by yourself. And let’s suppose that the viewers we have, maybe, we don’t know, but they can be from the south too. Yes. So if they got any south creators then they can write subtitles for them also? Right. If you understand the language You can see you have the opportunity.
If you know Marathi then you can go for Marathi creator too. Yes brother, what were you saying? I have some friends too who do Spanish.
Yeah. So they have so much demand for French and Spanish. So they are able to take foreign clients because they know French and Spanish. So they give their subtitles too. You’ll have to learn the language whatever you want to give. As well as, I think they must be able to charge more to US clients and all.
Okay. Also brother, this job of writing subtitles, can we write these subtitles from phone? This can be written surely from mobile. There will be some problem. Like when you’ll type, the keyboard will come onscreen, over the screen. So if the screen is little bit big then it’ll be easy for you. But it’s okay if you have a small screen, then also you can do it. You can start. You can start and on mobile, the work will get done.
It will work. So this was all about how to write subtitles and all. Now let’s come to our last question. And I would like to ask you that how can we find clients for this particular job? Let’s suppose someone learned quickly, so how can they find clients? You tell.
Tell us your process. Firstly, which everyone tells, i.e., Fiverr, Upwork, freelancer. there’s is one more called rev.com which focuses only on subtitles. These platforms are really crowded. This is the First reason since these platforms are very crowded, so I won’t recommend you these platforms. And it will take you too long to get your first order.
And the second thing is they take a lot of commission means charge and you’ll have to give extra fees to your client. So it’s wrong for clients and for you too. -Yes. Yes. Because Fiverr, take 20% commission. What I use is cold email.
First, let me tell the viewers what is cold email. So cold email. Let’s suppose, that I know Umer brother but Umer doesn’t know me and if I emailed Umer brother so I did a cold email to Umer brother. So if you called any creator like this it’ll be called cold call. For doing this you’ll have to find the email of the creator.
So it’s very easy to find emails of YouTube creators. You just need to go to ‘about’ section of their channel and you’ll get it or ‘business enquiry' must be written in about section, there you can fill the captcha and get the email address.
Some people mention their email address in description too, you can contact from there too If you want to target any Instagram creator, you can DM. But according to me it won’t be very effective because it’ll be very much crowded there. You won’t be able to differentiate or do something like this. So find their different social presence like Twitter is there, LinkedIn is there or YouTube is there. Because among the Instagram creators, many of them don’t have much reach on YouTube, so you can send them an email.
Okay. So that means we can find Instagram creators too and if they don’t have any presence on YouTube, as we say, you can reach out. So brother, now let’s suppose there are many people who are going to reach out so how do we differentiate ourselves? So that they take our service only because we are better or best. So first let me tell you, what you should not do.
You are saying, “ give me a job” or “ I want to write subtitles, please” “please” can also work but don’t please in the subject line means don’t even use this word. Don't keep the word, please. And try to put the creator’s first name in the subject line because it tells that you have done personalization in that. That you have done research about creator too.
So the second point is don’t make the email too long or too short. The value you are trying to provide, write it down properly. So basically these were the 2 things which you should not do. Now, what should we do? Give some tips about that.
So the first tip is, as I said, keep the subject line descent. This is the first tip. The second one is main, we call it a preview line, that the first line you write in the e-mail which is seen before opening the email so you can make that attractive too. You’ll get that on the internet too that how to make all this but you’ll have to think it creatively. And these tips that I’m giving for cold e-mailing you can use it for any services.
So keep the opening good and creative. And personalization, third tip, that do personalization, know the guy that in which field he’s making blog, means the creator will feel that he has done all the research on me, so I can give him work. And the third point is ending that at the end you can give your name, contact number or else you can make your website too.
You can make your small website and link that. And what I do is when the email ends, the space which is left at the last, I add a fact in that. So there’s a fact of discovery digital networks, I add it there, to build the credibility.
And the last and super tip is that you provide work to the client. You can give a sample or you can say that I’ll do your first blog for free. so they will definitely reply to you. I would like to tell you one more thing that cold email, uh, means there is a lot of failure that you are sending 10 emails and you are getting only 1 reply.
But you don’t need to worry, you should keep learning. The tips I gave you now, I have improved from that and the rate of my replies has increased, like 80-85% of the time I get replies.
